Focus and Scope

ASAGE is a scholarly journal in aesthetics and the philosophy of art. It takes a theoretical and interdisciplinary approach to the arts and matters of aesthetic interest. This journal publishes high caliber work in those areas, written by graduate students. ASAGE has been designed to take full advantage of the electronic medium by incorporating interactive comments sections at the end of each article. In addition, ASAGE publishes book reviews of recently published works in aesthetics and the philosophy of art and dissertation abstracts from recent PhD recipients. ASAGE is firmly committed to the principles of open access; access, submission, and subscription to the journal are all free of charge.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Submitted papers will be screened to ensure that they meet submission guidelines.Successful submissions will be selected by blind review based on quality of philosophical work and relevance to current debates in aesthetics.

Each submission will be reviewed by at least two volunteer graduate student reviewers with sufficient background in aesthetics.

Any student interested in reviewing for the journal should download the Volunteer Reviewer Application Form, fill it out and e-mail it to  asa(dot)graduate(dot)ejournal@gmail(dot)com , with “Reviewer Application” in the subject line.

Faculty members can nominate reviewers by sending the potential reviewer’s full names and e-mail address to  asa(dot)graduate(dot)ejournal@gmail(dot)com , with “Reviewer Nomination” in the subject line of the e-mail.


PUBLICATION FREQUENCY

There will be two issues per year, each containing up to 4 articles and up to 2 book reviews. Calls for papers will be sent out in early Fall and early Spring.


OPEN ACCESS POLICY

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.


ARCHIVING

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More…
